NSF Awards Grant to Support Undergraduate Nanotechnology Education at SEAS

The National Science Foundation has awarded GW a two-year, $200,000 Nano Undergraduate Engineering (NUE) grant. Professor Ryan Vallance (MAE) is the principle investigator (PI); the co-PIs are Professors Youngsheng Leng (MAE), Baoxia Mi (CEE), Mona Zaghloul (ECE) and Jonathan Silver (Biochemistry). The objective of the grant is to incorporate bio-nanotechnology into the undergraduate engineering curricula and to develop a program that will prepare undergraduate engineering students for careers or graduate studies in the design of systems and devices employing biological nanotechnology. To accomplish this, the proposal seeks to develop six new courses and to develop a set of ten laboratory experiments to enhance existing courses.
