Our Departments

The School of Engineering and Applied Science is made up of five departments, each with its own unique areas of research and inquiry. While each of our graduate students is an essential member of the dynamic make up of SEAS and integral part of the larger GW community, each must also have a "home" in one of our departments. This means that while applications for graduate admissions are processed at the School-level, individual admissions decisions are made by the faculty members at the department-level. This also means that most financial aid is granted at the department-level and the degrees are awarded only upon recommendation of the student's department.
